In addition to reciting a prayer, there are other etiquettes that should be observed when looking into a mirror. By practicing these etiquettes, we can strive to become better individuals and deepen our connection with Allah SWT.

Here are several etiquettes of mirroring that can be incorporated into our daily routines to enhance our spiritual growth and strengthen our relationship with our Creator. By adhering to these etiquettes, we can increase our mindfulness and awareness of our actions, intentions, and beliefs, and seek to align them with the values of Islam.

1. Say gratitude to Allah SWT

Muslims is advised to express gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon them by Allah SWT when looking in the mirror. It is essential to take care of these blessings and adorn them in the best possible manner.

This is emphasized in a hadith that highlights the importance of maintaining and beautifying the gifts granted by Allah SWT. By doing so, Muslims can acknowledge the value of these gifts and honor the Creator who has bestowed them upon us.

“Indeed Allah is beautiful and loves beauty.”

2. Avoid Excessive Behavior

Islam prohibits excessive behavior, even when it comes to looking in the mirror. Muslims should not indulge in self-admiration or spend excessive time on beautification, as Allah SWT dislikes all forms of extravagance.

This is emphasized in His teachings, which remind us to avoid all kinds of excess and seek balance in our actions. By practicing moderation and avoiding extremes, Muslims can align their behavior with the values of Islam and strive to please their Creator.

“O son of Adam, wear your beautiful clothes in every (entering) the mosque, eat and drink, and don’t be extravagant. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are excessive.”
