Tajweed is a familiar term for those who have learned to recite the Quran. The pure meaning of the word is “too perfect to beautify or improve”. In Islam, it is a set of quran tajweed rules to help readers recite the Quran, as the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) learned from Jibrael.

Sakinah/Sakin: This refers to letters with sukoon. Example: noon Sakinah refers to the letters noon with Sukoon.

1) Noon Sakinah and Tanween

This Tajweed rule involves vowels and letters that produce the “nnn” sound. For example: noon sakinah and letters with tanween (adds the noon sound to the vowel of the applied letter).

2) Idghaam (to merge)

Idghaam comes in two forms: one with ghunnah and one without.

Using Ghunnah: If following these letters [ي ن م و] after noon sakinah or tanween, skip ghunnah from noon and apply ghunnah with the following letters instead.
